Designed for retro-fit by FAA STC or CAA Major Modification or available as Sikorsky Standard Options. The fuel tank is mounted at the forward part of the baggage bay to minimise effect on helicopter Centre of Gravity. All fuel cells are crashworthy (65 feet drop tested) and certified to FAR Part 29 Amendment 29-21 and BCAR Section G.
Two auxiliary tank sizes are available - 106 US gallons or 51 US gallons useable capacity. Once the fixed parts kits are installed installation or removal of the tank can be accomplished in 30 minutes.
Variants are available for aircraft with or without air conditioning installed.
50 US Gallon Auxiliary Fuel Tank 51 gallon useable quantity gravity filled high strength composite tank with crashworthy flexible fuel cell, drainable sump and contents measurement system and indicator.
50 US Gallon Universal Installation Kit Permits installation of a 51 US gallon tank in either the forward position or moved 15 inches rearward to accommodate the heat exchanger of the Sikorsky Air Conditioning or C4 Environmental Systems. Kit includes universal mounting raft, main tank float valves, composite shrouds and gutter to prevent spillage during filling, fuel contents indicator, fuel transfer switch and indicator.
Both 50 Gallon Auxiliary Fuel Systems are approved under FAA STC Number SH1939SO and CAA Airworthiness Approval Note No 21384.
The mass of the empty 50 Gallon tank is 75 pounds. The mass of the installed fixed parts kit is 19.5 pounds. When the tank is fitted in the forward installation the baggage capacity must be reduced to 300 pounds. With the rear installation the baggage capacity must be reduced to 150 pounds.
106 US Gallon Auxiliary Fuel System Installation Forward Position Includes 106 gallon useable quantity gravity filled high strength composite tank with crashworthy flexible fuel cell, drainable sump and contents measurement system and complete installation kit. This installation is compatible with helicopters with the Sikorsky Single Point Pressure refuelling option. This installation is approved by Sikorsky S76A/B/C Type Certificate Amendment.
106 US Gallon Auxiliary Fuel System Installation Rear Position Includes 106 gallon useable quantity gravity filled high strength composite tank with crashworthy flexible fuel cell, drainable sump and contents measurement system and complete installation kit. The tank is located approximately 15 inches rearward to accommodate the heat exchanger of the Sikorsky Air Conditioning or C4 environmental systems. This installation is approved by FAA STC Number SH1576SO.
106 US Gallon Auxiliary Fuel System Installation Forward Position for helicopters with FPT Self Sealing Crash Resistant Main Tank Liner STC Includes 106 gallon useable quantity gravity filled high strength composite tank with crashworthy flexible fuel cell, drainable sump and contents measurement system and complete installation kit. The float valves include self-sealing breakaway fuel couplings. This installation is approved by FAA STC Number SA1358SO.
The mass of the empty 106 Gallon tank is 81.5 pounds, and the mass of each fixed parts kit is 18.5 pounds. When the 106 gallon tank is installed, the carriage of baggage in the baggage compartment is not permitted.
